Today I went to see some old burial mounds which date from around 0 to 1000. Conveniently the trailhead was only a 4 minute walk front my front door. I found out about these in our regional identity class last week when we had archeologist come speak. After class I chatted with her and she gave me information about other historical places in Bø. The one I'm looking forward to the most is castle ruins from around/before the iron age. I've added some photos I took. Sorry if it's a bit hard to see the graves, the lighting today was weird. The mounds have distinct shape but it they were not marked I could have easily thought they were just natural land formations. The oldest farm in Bø is right beside this forest with the graves and it seems to be that they belong to the owners of this farm. Its quite an interesting and impressive history. I find it amazing that they have lasted all these years! I'm assuming they were much larger back then. I'm so pleased I was able to get myself out of the house and go experience this today. I still can't believe that it is so close and that I had no idea it was even there!
