Exam season is upon us, and so is winter!!! We first got snow here in the middle of November. It has snowed a few times since, but no major downfalls, just a few inches here and there. However, it has stated plenty cold and icy! Oh my goodness the ice! I can't believe I ever complained about walking up the hill to my home before. The hill, steeper in some parts, is covered with a think layer of ice has resulted from tons of people walking on the path each day and the fact that the weather has stayed consistently around freezing. The tennis court by the school is completely frozen over. They spray water on it each night to freeze and local kids use the frozen iced over court as a makeshift hockey rink. Any who, the ice has for sure added a bit of time to my commute because of the caution needed when walking. I've only fallen once, but slipped plenty of times! Some gravel has been thrown down in spots which helps with traction. Still, I try to not stay out too late since it gets colder and slicker, but it can be very beautiful. In the evening the street lights shine and the path/surrounding area looks like it's covered in thousands of shimmering diamonds.
The last few days or so I've been trying to take a picture every morning. You can kind of see the progression of the weather in the mountains and at the student housing. This morning the sides of all the houses were all frosted. I hope we get more snow soon!

Sunday night I finally got a chance to go to the church here in Bø. My friend Alexandria, who is from Romania, is in my norwegian class. I haven't met any other students here who go to church, so I was stoked to have someone to go to church with who actually wanted to. Everyone there was so sweet! The choir had about 9 people and there were maybe 30 people total in the service. I plan on joining the church choir next semester too, I look forward to getting an opportunity to sing and to fellowship with the people here.
Altogether things are going well. I have not really gotten homesick for a long time now which is nice. Of course I miss home, family & friends, my cat, BBQ potato chips, pho soup, driving a car...but I am really enjoying my time here in Norway. I will be halfway done in January! Staying for a year was definitely the right choice for me. For now I will get back to studying for exams! Two down already. Wish me luck!
