I can't believe that half of the semester has already passed by. Not too long ago it felt like going home was a lifetime away, but now it's only about 3 months. Signs of spring have not year appeared, but the weather is slowly transitioning. Though there is religiously snowfall at least once a week, the frequency has severely dropped. Warmer temperatures mean less ice and clearer paths to walk on.
In my last post I mentioned going to a folk music gathering at the Gullbring community center. Well, I went. It was not what I expected. In an office around a large table about nine adults gathered. Luckily my housemate, Frode, agreed to go with me so I didn't feel so alone or strange. The people sang through a couple old folk songs, but the meeting seemed to be more about sharing/reviving old songs. I don't really know. They spoke in such thick dialect that both of us were not always sure of what was being said. Either way it was lovely. The old men joked a bunch which made it fun for me. I'm disappointed that I haven't found more opportunities, even tho Id inquired last fall and it turns out I cod have started a folk music course with the local high school then with a well known folk singer... But oh well! All I can do is enjoy the opportunities I find now.
I decided to finally buy a gym membership and it has been paying off! I have so much more energy and am able to sleep more than 4 hours a night now. I am trying to think of other new things to update you on, but there not much comes to mind. I am making a lot of progress on my bunad shirt though. It is exciting to see it coming along so beautifully. I am so glad that I decided to do it myself and choose the color design on my own too.
I'm very much looking forward to spring break in a few weeks. I have not gotten to travel out of Bø since coming back to Norway so the break will be much welcomed. I have my last midterm exam tomorrow, so I will get back to studying!
Hope everyone at home is doing well!
